Hoya Burmanica

The Hoya genus is home to many beautiful species and numerous cultivars. Over the years, hoyas have gained popularity as low-maintainence tropical house plants. In addition to their beautiful foliage, many hoyas also put forward sweetly scented, five pointed blooms in many different colors. Hoyas are native to South Asia, South East Asia, eastern India and Australia.

Hoyas grow in densely vegetated tropical forests, which is perhaps the reason why a new hoya has been discovered. Hoya burmanica is a novel species of plant that was discovered in Longling for the first time in 2019 and was first noted in China. It was thought that the plant species were found in Myanmar and eastern India.

Hoya burmanica is a succulent plant, featuring teardrop-shaped leaves tha are a dark green in color, sometimes with dark red variegated edges. These plants also put out pale pink lemon-scented blooms. This plant is considered rare, having only been discovered in 2019.

Many consider the Hoya burmanica to be a wild variant of Hoya polyneura. Unlike the  Hoya polyneura, Hoya burmanica does not featur prominent veins; rather its leaves are more solidly colored and often feature dark spotting.
